Collecting Berlin

Berlin is a city of great wonder. Anything from the imagination can come to fruition in this city, making anything possible. Art and culture thrive in this diverse metropolis. Loaded with historical baggage, Berlin has come out of some of the world’s most horrific past and into a place of acceptance, bustling culture and a booming art scene.

While studying in Berlin, I sought ways to preserve my memory of my love for this place. A city I had connected with more than any other besides that of my home. Berlin is an incubator for creativity, even in the smallest, free pamphlets to the gallery spaces to the business cards. Free pamphlets, media, cards, maps, zines, exhibit explanations greeted you in entry ways in any establishment, offering my budget conscious yet nostalgic self free souvenirs.

Collected from my day to day meanderings, I compiled an archive of all the free media I gathered throughout my stay in Berlin. Once an avid scrap booker and now digital designer, I used my eye for layout design to preserve my memory; a time capsule reminiscing that influential time of my life.
